Peak Tram

We walked though the financial district (which is still a load of shopping  centres) and ticked the HK hard rock tee shirt box. The Peak Tram station is just behind the sky scrapers.

Massive queue. Over an hour stood outside in a scrum. The most unorganised thing here so far. Also the first without air con.

As we got near the front all Britishness went out the window. Elbows out, Alison was first on the tram.

Ferry At Night

Heading back on the ferry gave me some more photo ops.

The engine room. You can see the head, and the two vertical exhausts.

This is the International Finance Centre (IFC). 417m high, 18th tallest in the world. This is on Hong Kong island.

Not to be confused with the International Commerce Centre (ICC) which is 484m high and the 6th tallest. On Kowloon just beating the Petronas towers by a couple of meters.

Both are even bigger shopping malls than every other building.

Star Ferry

Today we headed over to Hong Kong island and the ferry. Cost about £2. Regular efficient service across.

Cheers!

Had a cracking meal at the peak. Would recommend Cafe Deco. Of course we booked a window seat.

We have been waiting for this 8pm 'light show' which supposedly involves all the buildings across Victoria harbour.

We waited in our room one night, and now here from the top. Nothing. Ok I'm not expecting a Fremont street experience, well actually I am.

After dinner we tried to head down on the tram. The queue was massive and rain look imminent (it always does here) Good two hours we reckon. We snuck round the back and got a taxi.

£8 later we are at the ferry terminal. Job done.

Night Market

First night in Kowloon we headed out to the night market. More accurately Temple street market as there are loads of markets.

On the way we dived into a 'red ant' and I had a great Japanese meal.

We then walked for miles to this market which was a disappointment. A couple of blocks of people selling cheap tat.

One to avoid.

On the way there and back we got a feel for the place in general. It's safe. Loads of people milling about all the shops are open late so lots of activity.

We saw some street food. Nothing appealing whatsoever.

We made our way back having a drink in a couple of bars. Still hot and sticky but no rain tonight.

@The Peak

I had some expectation as what would be up at the top, but two big shopping centre wasn't on my list.

Should of known better. In this city there are people selling stuff everywhere. It's the land of Trafford Centres all next to one another with market stalls on the street in between, and blokes selling stuff between them.

There is also a Madame Tussaud's up here.

Anyway, the view. During daytime is stunning.

The viewing platform.

Some people take their camera equipment seriously. No idea what he was doing with his 1980 Sony.

Cars & Plates

Few nice cars here. Not sure how the registration plates work.
