Avarage flight home no issues. 

Really enjoyed it, and so that's New York ticked. Highly recommended, not sure what I would do if we went back. Maybe the new World trade and 911 museum when that opens? Get on a bike round Central Park or even the bike track around the whole peninsula - It needs to be warmer for that!

Head to the Bronx on the subway if we are feeling brave 

November morning rush hour in the uk..

Grand Central

Last morning we had one last wander up 5th av and popped into Grand Central. 

The Christmass tree at the Rockefeller centre had more scaff round it than our house. 

Hard Rock Lunch

Very strict bar man running the Hard Rock of a Sunday lunchtime. 

We saw one group of four, all clearly in their 30s at least turned away from sitting at the bar ordering soft drinks as one of them didn't have id. 

Then a daughter was forced to sit on the rungs if her mums chair while because she was under 21. She can stand at the bar, not allowed to sit. 

Xmas

Some Xmas windows are done but some are still putting up ready for thanksgiving... 

Bloomingdales were my favourite... Below

Beer Authority

I eluded to it previously. It has an extensive beer menu, over 100 craft beers and wifi. Close to our hotel on Times Square. I'm here for the third night on the run. Live music of a weekend. 

I recommend the mini burgers. :)

Frank

Met a lovely Irish man today in one of the bars we visited and yes there have been plenty today!

Frank turned out to be the owner of the bar we were in plus another couple in Manhattan and a hotel... Stumped up out drinks bill-result! Phil is going to try to see if he is on linked in :-) 

Pet shops

2 pet shops found today and lots of pet groom rooms which as you may imagine I was def interested in.. Puppies in the window may be cute but it's def something I am against. Haven't seen any stray dogs though here which makes me happy... 

Did try and pursuade Phil to being this little cutie home 

Jazz Time

Recommended a restaurant/jazz bar so booked for sat night. Long queue or 'line' as they say.... Music excellent but the food was poor, they turned the lights out so you couldn't see what you were eating, worst meal of the hols....

Snowing..

Times Square is really busy of a weekend. Usual clowns dressed up making tips posing for photos with the tourists. 

It's just started snowing. It's -1 with an 18mpg wind. 

No brainer, you want to be Elmo. Not the naked cowboy.

Highline

Not unlike the overhead railway, been converted to a sort of park which gives a different perspective walking around. 

We should do this with the Dale street flyover in town. 

Chelsea / Meatpacking

Walked though Meat Packing and into Chelsea Market. Seems quite industrial with lots of new businesses poping up. Arty-farty hippy kind of stuff. Basically selling over priced guff to posh people. 

We also ticked the Vegas Sugar Factory too :)

Greenwich village

So a later start today, trying to have a lie in and give my feet a chance to recover...out we go to be back in the room 5 minutes later as it's cold today and we need more layers of clothes on. 

We have come down to Greenwich village today and it's really different, feels more relaxed and it's really pretty. Think if I had to pick an area to live in it would be here. 

Got to the brunch place we were recommended to go to and has to queue.... Impatient Phil was actually quite patient!!! Sat here starving so it better be good :-) 

Greenwich Village

Greenwich is a really nice area. These are the leafy suburbs. Joggers, dog walkers, coffee shops. The right kind of massage parlours and spas. Defiantly the place to live if you are good with colours. 

Nothing higher than six stories, the ground here is too soft for skyscrapers.

I imagine it's expensive to live here.

After a 30 min wait we crammed into a place called Joseph Leonard for some brunch. Really nice food. Worth the wait. Is it still brunch at 1pm?

9/11

A very sad and moving visit to the 9/11 memorial today. We went for a guided tour by a New Yorker and someone who lost his brother up the no1 tower. Hearing the stories really brought it home and a lot of people were emotional about it. 

Inside is still being built and the intention behind the foot print pools really brings it home and makes you really think
