Homeward Bound

It really has been a great week, hotel was great, staff and service was superb. A late flight home means trying to grab a snooze on the plane before getting home at 3.30am. So worth it!! 

The beach

Soaking up the last of the sunny days with a visit to the beach. Kids love it, I hate the sand and the salt water! 

Kids club

Weather wasn’t good rhe last couple of days, and with their friends leaving they have both taken part in activities. George’s new best friend became Veronica 🥰😍

Our hotel. Overall a positive experience. Large hotel in terms of rooms, but can’t work out where they all go. Pools are not crazy, can pretty much always get a bed. Not many people hang about for the nightly entertainment past 21:00. It’s like they all know somewhere better to go! 

On the plus side all clean and working, food is good, staff are excellent. 

The pools are Baltic. The kids last night more than 30 mins before their lips are blue even when it’s 26 degrees in the sun. Fair few broken sunbeds that need attention.

Hopefully we see her Mexican cousin in a few months. 

Las Dunas

Little bit cloudy so went for a walk across the sand dunes. Big mistake, we underestimated the distance to the sea and the effort of walking across reed hit sand. Kid shoot off like a bouncy balls and want a drinks just as we hit the halfway mark. No chance. 

Descended onto a nudist beach which the kids had a lot of questions about.

Sunscreen and Masks

After being in the same tin tube as each other for five hours we all scrambled for masks as we entered the airport. 

Recent rule change means mask need to be worn indoors only now. 

Nobody checked Covid passports although looked posed to do spot checks.. 

Vague what indoors actually is, anything with a partial roof covering it seems. Regardless of a 30min cross wind. 

None of this sunflower lanyard crap or excuses. Everyone complies. I’ve seen the Policia in action.. 

The Pool

Kids just couldn’t wait to get in, even though it was cold and George was dithering with cold. 

Lots of pools, but in the shade for the morning due to the position of the hotel…. Kids pool seems ok though. Foam party!!! 

Jet 2

Good device again from jet2. This involved them kicking someone off the flight for being drunk, thanks for the hour delay, means a late arrival. 

Jack has to have a pcr and locator form with being only single jabbed, desks after case collection to check this all-but we didn’t need to as we were waved through. 

Airport

So after all the media hype, there we’re no queues at all to get through security. 4 hours before take off and we are the other side. The new terminal 2 is really nice, apart from the WiFi doesn’t work. 

Wagamama’s for lunch and then hit the shops. 

3 years

So it’s been 3 years since we have been in a plane. We are off to Gran Caneria for a week. New blue passports for the boys, covid passports for Phil and I and jack needed a negative pcr test and a locator travel certificate. It’s been a bit stressful getting to this point and the airports are meant to be terrible for queues to get through.  So we are heading off early for the flight to get through and get airport side.
