Last Day

We have a really late flight later, not looking forward to it. We get picked up at 19:30 for a 11:30 take off.

Luckly the villa isn't booked for 3 days so we can spend the day here before we get picked up. That is a big problem solved.

Jack was zonked in the airport at 10..

And wide awake at 4:30 when we landed.

Fingers crossed he goes back to sleep...

IPads

Did kids just eat their dinner without them?

Pool Day

Dropped the car off late last night without drama.

Spent the last full day round the pool with a BBQ.

Alpha Taxi

Greek style..

Beach Day

With sand!

Spent the morning round the pool and headed to Lindos for some lunch and spent the afternoon on the beach. Jack loved it. The sea was pleasantly warm and shallow quite a long way out. His confidence in the water really showed.

Then we walked around the shops in Lindos and had a rooftop meal again. Against the clock as the car has to be back by 21:30.

It's easy to get lost in the narrow winding streets. Good job the put clear signage up.

Meep Meep Racing

Wednesday brings a hire car. Half price compared to Budget, and you get what you pay for.

We didn't bother marking the damage during the handover. Not enough time, we only had hired it for two days.

We headed up to Rhodes about an hour away. Fully loaded we are down to second to get up some of the hills but this is an island full of meep meeps so no overtake is done confidently. Overtake on solid whites, motor bikes ride on whichever side of the road the wish. No law about wearing helmets, functioning brake lights surprised that anyone makes it past 30.

Spent the day waking round the port, then onto the shops and markets buying fake sunglasses.

Typically old Europian fishing village/ market town. Narrow streets with tat at every turn.

Jack wanted everything he saw - suits of armour, swords, toy plane, sweets, ice cream, angry birds anything... So he spent most of the day being told no.

You know when they have too much time on their hands..

'Beach' and water taxi

We are actually staying in a bay one down from Lindos. All part of Lindos bay, but walkable access to the sea is from Vliha Beach for us. Not a grain of sand in sight. Just super heated pebbles right into the sea.

After a morning by the pool and lunch we headed down to the beach.

Nothing stops Jack ran straight down and in - cap, glasses everything still on.

Plenty of water sport options, one of which was a one way water taxi into Lindos. If we get a car the plan is to explore Lindos, so we just popped across and had an Indian in a rooftop restaurant.

Learning from the log flume incident in Florida my phone was in a ziplock bag as we waded out to get in the boat. At Lindos was a proper landing stage to exit.

First impression of Lindos was a killer climb.

Option to let the donkey take the strain - I'm sure there must be a weight limit in the small print!

Cheap Tat

We haven't been to the inevitable 'craft market' yet, but this souvenir bottle of ouzo is going to take some beating.

Day Two

Spent the day relaxing by the pool. Well as relaxing as you can 'Dad, dad, dad....'

Jacks swiming and confidence in the water has come on leaps an bounds - a proper little tadpole. Goal this week is to learn to tread water and retrive something off the bottom in the shallow end. Without using his feet!

Excited 6am start with Jack meant we saw a lovely sunrise - just like Vegas but that was because I was on my way home.

We walked down to a restaurant on the beach at night. Great view over the bay. We could see our Villa on the hill.

Not all of us appreciated the view!
