No confusion or checking boarding passes as we enter the cabin. There is only the one plane at the airport.
Wheels up on time, the sun is out in a cloudless sky. Looks like it's going to be another glorious day.
We only have an hour at Bangkok to get to the Dubai flight. More concerned that our luggage won't make it.
Alison is in stressy mode as per when it comes to air travel.
In summary this place is what I expected it to be. I think the tourists are killing the culture as everyone wants to make a quick buck so shops selling guff are springing up on a daily basis.
The strip is like any booze soaked drag you would find in Spain. Neon, loud music, uneven pavements, McDonalds.
The up side is no touts dragging you in bars and free shots. Probably as a direct result there are no drunks rolling round the gutter or kids being sick.
Didn't see any trouble - no bouncers, and we saw one police car all week. No pick pockets - in Magaluf and Tenerife fending off pick pockets on the walk home was normal. The police don't care they see tourists as a pain and we get what we deserve.
Everyone can speak in English but Brits are the minority. Seems like a German resort with a few Aussies and some from the Nordics.
So no 99 Baht full English - but you could get some German sausage and a pint deals.
That might be the real reason it's not Blackpool in the sun. Lack of Brit culture!
Like Bangkok food is cheap and good quality. Even the dubious looking restaurants serve quality.
I have had a great time here. Not sure I would rush back. It's a long way and the weather is unreliable.
