Down The Rabbit Hole

So there are no fakes openly being sold on market stalls. Just the odd bag or pair of sun glasses.

If you want to buy fake goods you have to speak to one of the Indians standing on the street corners in the main tourist shopping areas.

So we spoke to one who would take us to his 'shop'. After a brisk headless chicken chase around a few blocks talking on his phone he passed us off to another guy who only had one thumb.

We followed him to his apartment on the 14th floor of a block. Called mansions, these week to be the hub of the Indian/African communities. The first three or so floors are not unlike St Johns Market used to be like. Selling electrical goods tailors  and money exchange. Really felt on edge here. The equivalent electrical market run by the Chinese was fine. Which is why I left my phone with them to fix.

In a small room he has a couple of couches round a table with a cloth thrown over it. Plus of course the haggling calculator. A load of plastic draws full of watches had brand names on the front of them.

No velvet gloves here. We had a look at a few watches and started the haggling. While we where there another group came up and sat on the other couches to do a deal.

Deal done we head back to the lift and find our own way out.
